Overhead computer
Overhead computer
I have a 2001 Dodge SLT Laramie with the Cummins diesel. I just bought the truck and it doesn't have the overhead digital computer that diplays the compass, outside temp, etc. I popped the panel where it goes and there are no wires or connectors back there.
Can I still add this feature? Does anyone know where the wiring harness for this plugs into? (like under the dash somewhere) I'd like to try and find one at a wreaking yard and put it in but don't know how hard it would be if my truck never had one.
Any help is appreciated.

I did this mod a couple of years ago. The hardest part was finding the parts. You need the computer and display, harness and temp sensor. I don't believe they have to be out of a diesel - any dodge truck from 99? to 02 should do. The temp sensor can be out of any chrysler vehicle.
The harness plugs into 2 places under the dash. One is on the back of the fuse panel and the other to a data link connector next to the big connector by the steering collumn. My truck had a temp sensor cable that ran to a connector next to the underhood light. I fabbed a cable to take it from there to the sensor behind the grill.
Hope this helps.
