Well there you go, pull a wheel and see if it all fits. If it does cool, let us know.

No there is not anything like this for you.
The rotors are about an inch bigger, but also slightly thicker. They are MUCH MUCH heavier which in dealing with brakes is where the performance lies. Not only more surface area, but much more material to hold that heat.

This post keeps making it back to the top, perhaps it should be stickied or a copy put in a maintenance section?

Do a search on "big brake upgrade" since there's a ton of info including part numbers and how-tos. When you get the calipers just make sure they have the bracket installed, too. I went with A! Cardone from CarQuest. I am interested in the rears, though, since mine need to be done soon anyway.... The rear rotor does seem to slip right off so it might be an easy upgrade.... Check out RockAuto for some good prices....

Just finished my upgrade, I went ahead and got the calipers with with brackets from Carquest since they were so cheap ($64 after core return). The rebuilt calipers were OEM supplied TRW calipers and brackets.

Part #'s

Caliper: CLP 18-B4891
Caliper: CLP 18-B4890
Rotors: BDR 53012
Pads: FRI RMD965

Total, after returning cores was like $260, not bad. Noticeable improvement in the braking! Great mod!

Did your centre caps pop right on the H2 wheels?

Nothing is needed in the rears to do this swap, this is for the front only. Bias is fine, it brakes like it should have new. Feels like a car instead of a truck while braking at slow to moderate stops. If you really get on the brakes it feels like a sports car braking.
what would prevent you from doing this swap to a 94-99 if you removed the old rotor ????

will not work on 94-99 because caliper bracket is part of the spindel and cannot be removed, and newer spindle(00-03) cannot be swapped in because of ball joints are orentated differently

Just curious... Has anyone validated if the 3rd Gen. rear rotors will fit on 2nd Gen. trucks? I want to do the 3rd Gen. 17" brake upgrade to the front but want 17" rims/tires front & rear.

Are others that did the front upgrade to 3rd Gen. 17" disc brakes using stock 16" rims/tires in the rear with no upgrade to the rear ?

Thx

Sounds like a good upgrade that I could use. Unfortunately I'll have to buy 2 rotors, 2 brackets, new pads, and SIX 17" wheels! OUCH!! I sure am curious to see or feel the difference in the braking. My truck stays close to max weight and brakes are what are lagging on this thing.

Yea, they have been a few guys swap the rear rotors. It is the same as the front. You can reuse your calipers, just get 3rd gen rotors, caliper brackets, and pads.
