I looked the other day on autotrader.com and found several 98 12v 5speeds, no shortbeds though, but lots of the 215 pumps. On their site you can narow the search down to exactly what you are looking for, even color.
I'm sorry to hear about some of your troubles with driving distances to find trucks. I drove from virginia beach to atlanta, georgia to get my truck. It was exactly how it was decribed and looked in the pictures. Hear I am with 243,000 miles and she still runs like a top. There are still some honest people out there, not too many work a dealerships though.

Maybe I'm too much of a utilitarian, but I owned a SB truck prior to my CTD, and hated it. Almost useless unless you use a bumper pull trailer only.

Just my $.02, but the longbed is a godsend.

HAHA!!.........good luck!........I have been looking for a Quadcab 3500 12v 4x4 5spd for longer than I can remember!.............In the end I caved and went to the darkside (24v)!! .......the truck was too good of deal to pass up and it had absolutely everything I wanted other than the 24v.

Please don't tell me if you find one.......I would probably go insane with jealousy if you found one!

Eskimo, I agree.......seems like everytime I wanted to put something in the back of a short box it didn't fit.........and you can't have a decent sized slide-in camper with a SB, either.

I think I found the truck

I think I found the truck. It is a 98 4x4 12 valvle 4 door black short bed with a matching black topper. has brush guard and nerf bars. has grey leather interior, automatic trans, spray in bed liner, 118,000 miles. BFG AT tires on stock wheels. He is asking $14,900. I put down $500 as earnest money. Has some rattles in the front end though. I need to have that looked at. Hope it's not ball joints or anything major in the front end. On the highway it rides very smooth. In town has some rattles. I forgot to check if it's the 53 block. I sure hope it isn't. Anyone have a link to a pic on how to check if it's a 53. Otherwise, everything is stock. He has the tranny rebuilt but no great torque converter. I think it was a rebuilt one. If I get it I will need to start getting some info on turning it up. Guages first though. Let me know your thoughts. Dang, I am excited. I sure hope it's not a 53 block. I have some interior pics I just can't seem to post them.

I have yet to hear of a failure of a 53 block with a 12V. You can put your pictures in your photo gallery then just put the link to them here.

I took three planes, rented one car ,drove 250 miles to get to my truck. It took 24 hrs straight to get there. The seller met me half way even.....He pulled up, at the rental drop off, I got in the truck, drove to the bank, made the payoff, they gave me the title and I drove 22 hrs home, with two naps. Worth every penny and every minute!

I [aid 14.5 about 2 years ago for it. Probably have 18 in it, maybe more by now, I don t even care, its the best truck I ve ever been in.
