Looking for A/C help
Was wondering if anyone has done anything to improve how their a/c works. My 2000 blows like a one bladed fan. I charge it every so often and it can get fairly cold if it isn't 100 but it just doesn't blow very well. I put a new blower motor on it a couple years ago and it still seems to be working as well as it did they day I got it. Has anyone made modifications so that the a/c works better like that of a chevy or ford? Thanks

How often are you having to charge it? If it's twice a year or more, then you have a leak, and your A/C performance will suffer. Best thing to do for a leak is find out where it is and fix it.
Also, have you cleaned your evaporator at all? Dirt, dust, and leaves will accumulate over the years and can have a huge impact on how well it can cool the cabin.

Mine blows weak as well. It is nice and cold, but it has never had much volume either. My Tahoe blows harder on 2 or 3 than my dodge on full blast. I'm curious about this too. I compared the two blowers at oreileys and they are pretty similar. Different mounting and a little different shape motor. I recall temp wiring it and holding it in place but it didn't do much better. There must be a bottle neck somewhere in the vent system not allowing the full flow. This was after installing a new evaporator and making sure it's all clean.

For airflow, as long as the evaporator is clean it should blow a good amount of air. One thing that can prevent this are the blend doors. If they are bound up or not moving into the correct positions, then air will get split between the wrong ducts or even into the heater core.
If you have it set on the the dash vents, see if your getting air out of the defrost and/or floor vents. If you are then your blend doors are acting up.

It's gotta be the design, as stated above my Tahoe and F150 blowers move a lot more air than my Dodge ever has. Our 97 f350 will fluff your hair on defrost....
