I am looking to trade my 08 CTD for an older model. I no longer need a truck as nice as what i got and want a manuel. The truck i have found is a 2001 2500 quad cab 4x4 SLT. It has a 5spd tranny and 154000 on the ticker. Are there any points of interest i should look at when inspecting this model? It is located in Ohio so if these have rust issues what should i look for on the truck? Thanks for the help.

Do a search on this site for "fuel pressure", "pulling codes," "lift pump", and you should be fine. Pulling the codes is important and fairly simple with the key on/off trick. Check his records closely and check all the fluids. I'm looking to sell my '01 but it's an auto. Don't want to, but I need a little newer truck.

 

Just add $2000 to the price for a fuel system, gauges, ball joints, tie rods, track bar, steering box, steering stabilizer, & PS/vacuum pump leak. Take a fuel pressure gauge and scanner with you or add $1000 + 4 hrs labor for a VP. Also, $350 + install for cracked dash. Adjust for anything he's done IF you are SURE of the quality of work. Tires are ~ $600 out the door. All of the discussed in detail in the archives.
