Interior Paint Code Location?
Interior Paint Code Location?
Anybody know where the interior paint tag is? I am trying to get the correct paint for my gauge pillar but cannot find the code for the color inside the truck. I have looked everywhere I can think of, and places that web sites have suggested, such as all the door jambs (no it isn't on the sticker where the outside paint code is) under the hood, all around the engine compartment, over both front wheel wells, the firewall, around the battery, under the dash, and under all the seats, just short of pulling up the carpet.
I now wonder if, supposedly like the Dakota, the paint tag is on the back wall of the cab. Does anyone know how to get the back of the back seat away from the cab wall?

Thanks,
Chris
Re:Interior Paint Code Location?
Hay Stamey I just got my color for my 3 gauge pillar the code is under the hood on the radiator support (( looking at the truck from the front it will be on your left side next to the intercooler the tag is painted black an just riveted to the support take the #'s off that tag to a good auto body supply store an the can mix you up a can that matches perfect. Don't just buy a can off the shelf they never match well, they can mix you a SPRAY can at a good shop for about $10.00
Yea its more $ than a can off the shelf but it will look a lot nicer. good luck Bob
Re:Interior Paint Code Location?
I looked at the tag. There are about 30 3 character codes on it. An idea which one is the interior paint code? I read them off to the paint guy and could not match any numbers to his book.

Thanks,
Chris
Re:Interior Paint Code Location?
Stamey Hay I just gave the guy at the autobody supply shop all the #'s an he matched mine perfectly, mine is called light camel. I painted the pillar an boy does it look good dyou would think that the pillar was made that color.
Try another body supply shop. I'll see if I can find out just which # it is on the tag an let you know.
Bob

Re:Interior Paint Code Location?
I am thinking of a Camel color, but the guy says that isn't recognixed in 1999, but is in 2000. He says there are 2 colors that mine could be and he believes I hve the lighter of the 2, but we are trying to verify it for sure, before we go the match-the-color route.
Powhatan, I guess, is a suburb of Richmond, about 15 miles West of it. By Interstate, about 48 miles to Ladysmith.

Thanks,
Chris

Re:Interior Paint Code Location?
Well, from the Dodge Truck newsgroup, and everywhere I've looked, I have now concluded that the paint code does not exist. I ended up driving to the paint store, having them match it, and getting a pint mixed.

Thanks for the replies.

Chris
Re:Interior Paint Code Location?
For future reference: There are actually two colors on the "tan" interiors for model year 2000, and likely your 1999. You can verify the fact that the colors differ by removing the fuse panel door at the left end of the dash and holding it next to various plastic interior pieces.

The 5 ounce Mopar spray paint for the two colors are:

P/N 04864437 Camel
P/N 05003524AA Dark Tan

Re:Interior Paint Code Location?
Thomas,
That sounds about right. The 3 guys that looked at it could not believe the dash was a little darker than the door panels and the pillars. They said, "That's supposed to be the same color." I didn't know so I couldn't dispute it.
They matched it up and gave me Dupont/PPG PN: DIU27731H.

Chris
