Interior overhead light replacement

How do you remove the over front overhead light console? The unit with the 2 push botton lights, glasses holder, garage door opener holder?

I see two metal clips under the opener compartment, but dont want to break the darn thing

one of my over head on click lights is stuck and wont turn on. Gotta fix it

seems like the two metal clips release something but cant pull the plastic frame down . If i push the plastic back tight the clips reset

Hi! IIRC I had the same feeling as you did - that I was going to break the piece. I gave it one more tug - just a little bit harder, and she popped out. It is a very tight fit. The OEM switches are really crappy, cheap and flimsy. Watch for the small parts. My light wasn't working simply because of the flimsy way the wires are connected to the switches. I just very carefully took it all apart, fixed the broken switch wire and reassembled. The light switch has been working fine ever since.

Let me repeat that the switches are really, really lightweight, cheap, crappy pieces. Be very careful when you disassemble and don't lose any of the small pieces or you'll be heading to the wrecking yard.

Cheers!

Mike

Is there any aftermarket, or Ebay replacement parts for these overhead lights? Mine just broke when I was turning it on standing outside the truck.

I don't know where yours broke but I rebuilt mine with stick epoxy. Had to mold a post that a screw went into.

Once you unhook those two clips, the whole console will slide forward. You might have to use a little force, but push it toward the front of the truck and it'll come down. Ditto on the cheap parts, I have had to glue those switches back together.
