Help me put a value on a donor truck
I hate all of the "whats my truck worth" threads, so I hope this is not one of those. I don't know much about the truck yet other than it is a 2nd gen. It's a 4x2 with a NV4500 transmission.
If I buy it, I'd be using it for an engine donor. The truck is totaled so there isn't a whole lot of value for parts other than the engine and transmission. The truck looks like it had been rolled and the rear axle was tore loose on the drivers side.
What do I need to know to make a offer on the truck? What is the value of a 12 valve vs 24 valve engine? Is one more desireable than the other?

The benefit of the 12 valve is that it is not computer controlled, so is easier to put in a project truck. If the engine and trans are good I'd say it is worth about $3000. If it is a 97 I could use some small parts.

Information like year, make, model, and milage would help. My internet telekinesis is out of order at this time. The relative value of 12 vs 24 is not great forf just the engine. Throw in a bunch of electronics, pumps, ect would make a difference though.
