headlight switch wiring harness

Ok here goesI'm new to this site and I'm need of some help. So here the problem I own a 1998 dodge 24v with 100,000 miles and all stock....a few weeks ago I notice my drivers side rear light harness was chewed on so I repaired it and I have everything working but my running lights and my instrument panel lights so I was messing around with the headlight switch and they came on for brief minute then off again so I replaced the switch and nothing so I purchased a pigatil harness for the swwitch but haven't put it on yet so has anyone had this problem or think it cud be the harness? Any help wud be appreciated

A lot of people have problems with the switch and harness melting, there was even a recall for it on some years where relays were added to take the load of the switch and wiring.
