Has anyone bypassed the heater core

It is hot down here in South Texas, and I was thinking about just rerouting the heater hose towards the heater core and see if the a/c will get colder. My truck cools fine, however when I get on it and go the thing does not want to cool, however when I come to a stoplight its cold as it can be. Any help let me know something thanks Don

Re:Has anyone bypassed the heater core

Most vehicles use a switch connected to the throttle linkage that will cut off the A/C compressor during hard acceleration to reduce the drag on the engine.
Could this be what you're experiencing?
