Fire!!!!

i have a 98 2500 12v that caught fire( nothing severe but there were visible flames). it did smoke severly but it went away for a bit. fire was around the ac evaporator but it was the plastic housing that actually burned. i have the dash apart and about ready to pull the whole housing unit out but so far have not seen anything that coulda started it. no exposed wires or any fluids leaking. also when i disconnected the ac piping from the dryer it was all empty n dry. i also know the truck was used as a landscaping/mowing truck for a few years so the dash has dead dry grass n leaves through out it. will the ac evaporator get hot enough to ignite any debris. or if the evaporator cracked and leaked could that ignite? im also hoping that someone knows the part number/name of the whole housing unit? any help or insite could be useful

I'm thinking more along the lines that dried tinder made it down near the resistor.....

When the AC is operating, the evaporator is cold - and if not operating, I would think its temperature is somewhere between the ambient air temperatures inside and outside. When not operating, the refrigerant is still going to transfer a small amount of heat one way or the other due to conduction/convection, but I don't think the evap core would get hot enough to start combustion, unless you were in maybe Death Valley or Nevada and you were driving without AC so you weren't pumping cold refrigerant into the evap core.

I think Sixslug may have called it.
