DRBII Scanner and codes?

Does anyone have a website that has a good list of DRBII scanner codes? I'm going to call the dealer to see if I can borrow their scanner. I'm assuming there's no where else to get it? Reason I need a scanner is because I want to pull the codes for my ABS light. I checked the rear wheel sensor and it seems ok because my speedo still worked even with the rear tires off the ground. I have not checked my front wheel sensors and I don't really know how. I have 4 wheel ABS.

I do not bet , but I would be willing to bet the dealer is not going to loan any tools .
How did you check the front ?
The right test , will check both the ft. & r.
Do you have any symptoms ?
It could be as simple as a brake lite sw. , brake lite staying on , adjustment .

You're right about the dealer. I didn't think they'd be that nice either but I gave it a shot. They want a full diagnosis fee ($100) just for pulling codes. So I won't be going there. I did not check the front (don't know how). I only checked the back by putting the rear axle on jackstands and putting the tranny in D. The speedometer worked. So I guess the rear wheel speed sensor is ok? The brake light is on as well. Symptoms are that my ABS doesn't work. I tried it on the snow last winter. A weird thing is that one time about a year ago, as I was pulling into a parking spot (dry asphault) I felt the ABS kicking in for no reason. I was almost at a complete stop when I felt the brake pedal pulsing.

Furthermore, I thought the brake light and ABS light go hand in hand. In other words, I thought the brake light is on because of the ABS light. Could it be the other way around?

The speed sensor is not a wheel sensor for ABS .
The brake & ABS can come on together or not , depending on what is happening .
The parking lot thing could be many things , one wheel going over paint stripe for parking lot , and making that one wheel slip .
The scanner can help tell you where to look for problems , but a scope is needed to know for sure , there can be small glitches in the sensor [ or metal flakes from brakes ] that other meters can not test the circuit fast enough .

Are you talking about the rear wheel sensor that's located in the middle of the rear axle? I thought that was the only ABS sensor for the rear. Is there another one?

I'm going to stop by at Autozone on my way home to see if they have a scanner. By the way, Autozone and other places no longer loan out scanners including the OBD-II scanner for free because of a new law that passed. You can only buy them now. I don't know exactly what the law is but that's what the guy told me when I called earlier.

I just looked up some ABS sensor prices... Left front and right front abs sensor is $417 EACH!!

God, I hope it's not a front sensor. The rear one is only $67. This is at Autozone too.

Check with Kragen. I just bought a rear sensor for the rear of my 02 and it was $35+-. By the way I'd did a Ohms test on the new one and it was around 1.8K ohms. So maybe you can use that number to check. Just don't even think about Haddad Dodge.

That's some great info! Thanks. Also, I checked with Kragen and you're right, it is about $35. The front wheel sensors were cheaper too. This is the first time Kragen beat Autozone for me.

275 and change each at Rock Auto for the front sensors, don't know how that compares to the prices you have been given.

Not sure but I think ya need to have a DRBIII scanner to pull and reset the ABS. I was using Superchips Max Tuner to adjust my tire size and it messed up my ABS. Seems it deleted the rear axle info ( Rev per Mile data to ID the rear axle gear ratio). Had to use The dealer in Taft to reset. $40.
Here's link on DTR with general code info.

(or just look at the last forum here at the bottom of the list)

Here's a post today if you can make it. Cost of fuel and all it might just be cheaper to see a dealer

There are some aftermarket scanners that can access the abs but I have not seen a cheapie version yet that would.

I forgot about Rockauto, they seem to have great prices on stuff. Kragen was in the range of $370 each.

I'll have to check about the scanner. Haynes manual says it's DRBII for a 1996. It's nice of that guy to loan out his scanner. I won't be able to make it during the week though...
