Daughter's 1st CTD

I have been looking long and hard for a good dependable truck for my teenage daughter. No mustang for her!!! I'm so proud. Found a sweet deal on a 2001 Ext. Cab 2WD. Only 99,000 miles, nice straight body, no rust, turbo back straight pipe, K&N filter, super clean cloth seats, etc. Only 2 issues that need fixin. The information center in the overhead console doesn't work and the reading lights in the o/h console appear to have been gutted (no inerds just the lenses). What I'm wondering is what model years consoles will fit this truck - so I can start looking at salvage yards for a donor unit to swap parts from?

And of coarse the dash is cracked - no surprise there.

Thanks in advance - Pete

I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing anything from 99-02 would work.

I think all 98.5-02 would work, last I checked there is a whole bunch of them on ebay for a decent price.

Is there a way to test them to make sure the unit works? What should I search for on ebay?

Search "overhead console" for '98.5-02 models. Odds are that the computer will be a rare item to find used...most are for a gas model. You could just put in the regular overhead console without the computer and get an aftermarket mirror with the compass/thermometer built in and wire it up while you have the headliner down. Pretty fair priced and mounts the same as the stock mirror. Or go to Dodge....
You could also get a dashmat or there are aftermarket dash skins that go over the stock dash and look pretty good, I guess.
