Couple of problems- Rattling noise and wandering

My old truck is starting to show it's age I guess. Washboard gravel roads are beginning to get noisy. I hate a rattle and it seems I'm starting to get some. What would you guys guess is causing this rattling? I've laid under the truck, tried to shake everything, but can't find what it is. Shocks seem stout, no appreciable movement in ball joints that I can tell, replaced lost bolts in fender liner plastic-wasn't that, I just can't find anything.
On another note, I have noticed on very uneven roads, meaning either ridges or grooves in the asphalt, the truck is starting to "chicken-chase" a little bit, most pronounced when coming into or out of a curve. Any ideas on that? My first thought would be the tie rod ends, although I noticed no side to side movement during inspection.
Motor's great, truck's getting a little wear. It I could get these irritating things took care of, I could quit looking on sites advertising 04's and 05's

Steering problems mean your front end is worn as in tie rods, ball joints, track bar, steering box or steering shaft. Caster set at 3* or more. More reading than you want.

next time you hit the wash boards, while not slowing down slightly depress the brakes and see if the rattle stops if it does yoy will need the rubber boots that the caliper bolts pass thru

Thanks, I'll try it. Ideas like that are along the lines I was looking for.
