Clutch Question

Please bear with me if this has been asked before. I could not find the answer anywhere.

I have a 98 2WD 5 speed. I pull a 5th wheel occasionally. It seems lately that when I am unloaded and get on it like after slowing down a little, the engine winds up a little bit faster than the pickup gets going. My question is, does this sound like my clutch is going out, and if so, how can I test it to be sure? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Sounds like the clutch could be slipping. To try it, put it in 5th and lug it down to about 40 mph and then floor it and see if it slips or holds.

That's how it feels, like it is slipping. Am I correct in assuming that means a new clutch in the near future, or is there some way to adjust it?

New clutch time. Too much slipping and you could do some damage to the flywheel, but if you go with SBC products, it comes in the package.

Thanks. Best place to buy is Napa I guess? Any other suggestions? Also, which clutch is best for my pickup?

south bend clutch is my choice and you should upgrade to a clutch that will hold your power with the chip.here is a link.
