I was wondering if I could drop the front of my truck by purchasing a second hand set of front coil springs for my truck and having them chopped?

As you may know I've been looking to lower my truck a bit, and can't find any front lowering springs. I found rear blocks, but nothing for the front. Ideally I would like to get close to but maybe not so low as the following pic (which is the winner this month!)


I'm looking to lower the back by 2ish inches and the front by 2ish inches. I thought about something earlier that might work, maybe I should call a dealership and ask for lower front coils? I know the OEM has them, as I have seen stock trucks that sit about what the above truck does. What do you think?

 

2wd or 4wd? I remember seeing a front lowering kit for the 2wd I think from Bell Tech. As for the 4wd You can't just cut a coil because both ends of the spring is squared off and cutting it would not let it sit right.

Not likely a lowering kit available anywhere for a 4x4. Not enough demand in the world for it. 2WD always have lowering spindles available. Cutting a coil spring will shorten it but stiffen it, often tremendiously- not the best option if you can find another one- the problem is in order to handle the weight the front end sees (diesel engine is significantly heavier than a V8 remember) you have to have a fair amount of travel of or the springs will be stiff as heck.
A leaf rear can be lowered by removing the lift block (factory installed) and if more is needed reversing the springs (springs under the axle), but the front....not so much.
