CHMSL for topper brake light - year started?

Anyone know what year Dodge started installing the wire at the rear for the Center High Mount Stop Light (CHMSL) in order to hook-up the topper brake light?

If the rear CHMSL is not on my 98 12 valve; best to run a length of wire to the brake pedal switch to the white / tan stripe wire - correct?

Anyone have a link / wire diagram for the brake switch wiring?
(have a green wire that was previously tapped for something).

IIRC my 96 gasser had the light wire in the harness near the spare. It was just capped off with some heat shrink/glue type end on it. I didn't dig on my 97, but my 08 had it in the same spot.
