After reading this post, and trying everything to lessen the amount of front end bounce on a concrete highway, are you saying that changing to the Carli Hemi springs are the way to go? I have the d-25 Superlift springs, Bilsteing 5100, the ride is just this side of riding a bull for more that 8 sec.
Thanks for all the great in-site.

I cant explain it but because of the valiable rate, it certainly removes the bounce/jump you feel when driving over expansion joints at hi-way speeds, maybe post in your local chapter to see if there is someone nearby, who will let you take their truck for a ride so you can compare the springs to your ride

Nick G,
I think at this point I am just going to call Sage, and get a set ordered, what do you think about the leaf pack, worth it????
How difficult was the 3rd gen brake upgrade, and how about your thoughts on an oil leak that is on the drivers side about 1/3 down from the top of the valve cover, just started.
I am a green card holder living in the US, from Calgary.
Thanks

I doubt you will be dissapointed!! I have the leaf pac, basically all you do is remove and discard the helper springs(overloads) some trucks dont have them. and throw the lower main leaf away as well, they were more expensive than the coils....I have no regrets. I made my own swaybar links from an 96 dodge carivan (25$ makes 2) mine are now greasable and easy to make if you own a welder. The carli dealers here will sell parts and pieces seperately, so that is always helpful, so you dont have to throw huge amounts of money at it all at once
as for the leaky side cover, the gasket was cheap (20$) and you have to remove the vp to replace it. there is NO other way to do it. also note the gasket can fit 2 ways and only one is right,(thicker part of gasket faces engine) it also has an arrow indicating towards front of engine

the 3rd gen brake upgrade is the easiest and best upgrade you can do, IF you have 17inch rims, all you need is 3rd gen rotors/pads/caliper brackets. you dont need new calipers as the 00-08 all use the same double piston caliper, sometimes it might be cheaper to by calipers and brackets, or source the brackets seperately (which is what I did)

here is a pic of my homemade swaybar links, have 50$ and 1/2 of time invested in making 4 of them, cut the old dodge ones in 1/2, as well as the new carivan ones, use a piece of tubing and slip both ends in and weld it up
the rears I just ground to a taper and butt welded them

Can anyone w/the carli 3" coils take a measurement from the bottom of the front fender to the ground and post it here? I need to know what size drop I'm going to exp if I install these coils. Thanks.

yes probably true. Right now I can afford to loose probably 1" due to the fact the rear squats a little and would probably level it out. Definately no worries if it improved my ride even further. Any thoughts?

I'm at 41inches from ground to fender lip. I'm sitting on 265x75x17inch wheels, they appear to be around 30-31inch tires,
I also measured from the lower spring perch to the upper spring perch and it was 14 1/8 inches, that might help fiqure how much difference there is between your compressed spring height and mine

Ok after checking, I'm 46" from the fender edge to the ground and 14 5/8 between the spring perch edges top/bottom. So I'm guessing the carli coils will work and keep my existing height...the rest of the fender height is from the 315/17 tire/wheel combo? Does this sound correct? I don't want to screw this up as it's not an easy plug/play mod. thanks!

Ok out of the box the carli 3 coils are 21 3/4" long. Going to have to measure again to see what I might loose in front end height based on the current setup.

if I remember correctly, my stock springs were way shorter than the carli ones, the even with your reported compressed height, they would compress at least 7 inches, and still end up at 14inches. it took me about 2hrs to swap them in, it goes pretty quick if you have a good floor jack and air tools. I think Mstep used the carli and an one in spacer to get his desired height...maybe PM him to get clarification,

Nick thanks for the info. I'm just going to have to measure spring height w/jack on the frame reflecting the true uncompressed length of the SJ springs.
