Buying a overhead computer
Buying a overhead computer
My truck did not come with a o/h computer. I found one from a dodge salvage yard out of San Antonio (great source of parts). He is going to strip the wiring out of the wreck, should it be as easy as plugging the wiring in or are there hidden deals I don't know about?? I do know about the temp sensor but does the rest plug into the main harness??

I toyed with the idea for a while, went to the salvage yard and started removing one. The wire harness looked like a nightmare. I don't think this will be a plug and pay setup. I think it is doable but if you figured your time at $3.00 per hour I think it would be cheaper to buy a aftermarket mirror with all that stuff in it and about a hour to install
I did this mod a couple of years ago and the hardest part was routing the new harness down the post and under the dash. It should have 2 underdash connectors. One plugs in to the back of the fuse panel and the other plugs into a connector next to the steering column. On my truck there was a temp sensor wire that went from under the dash to a connector next to the hood lamp. I had to fab a harness from there to the sensor since the donor truck was missing that part. If you can take a look at where things are connected on the donor truck.

Trouble! Trouble! Trouble! Even with a donor in next stall, it will wear you out. Buy a mirrow and wire it. Like badme said, at $3 and hour you will have a big investment. Sometimes even computer is different and power distribution center.
