Biocide?

Recently got an 01 2500 w/60kmiles. Previous owner didn't know about changing the fuel filter...he changed it right before I got it...it was kinda nasty looking. I bought the truck anyway and have been very pleased with it. Was just reading about Power Service BioKleen. QUESTION: Should I run some of this? If so, what's the right amount to add (I think the tank holds about 30 gal...I usually take on 25-ish gallons at fill-up). -dan

That wouldn't hurt. Your truck holds 34 gallons reg cab, 35 if a quad. I usually go by the amounts on the bottle as far as dilution is concerned. I change my fuel filter every 10K and so far none have been as nasty looking as the first one. Kurt

I run racor biocide in every tank, about 1/4 to 1/2 oz per tank is enough after the initial shock of 1 oz. for a few tanks. Cheap insurance if you ask me, I had a fungus after getting some bad fuel a while back and it cleared it right up and have never had a problem since.

I and my shops all use LuberFiner, we have a couple of big rig shops that sell oil and fuel filters, the oil filters are $4.60 and the fuel are $13 a piece. Every other oil change or if I think I bought some bad fuel I will put a new one in just in case. I run Schaffer's Winterized Diesel Additive and love it, cleans injectors, lubes everything, better mileage and just runs flat out better.
