If you do a search, you'll find tons of reading enjoyment on the subject. The biggest thing I have found (through experience) is that you don't want to use Moog joints on a truck newer than 1999. Newer than that uses a different style of joint, and Moog just never got it right. They are way too tight and the steering won't return after you go around a corner; tends to make the truck a real chore to herd down the road.

Apart from that, there are two tiers of ball joints; first is jobber joints like Moog, TRW, XRF, etc. that you would normally find at your parts store. Easy to find and a decent price. Of that group, most people seem to have good luck with XRF.

The other tier I call "specialty" joints. Very high-end, and cost a lot more. Haven't tried any myself, but they are supposed to work very well. Look for names like Carli and Dynatrac. Special order stuff that you can't buy off the shelf.
