ball joint check

I have a rattle in my front passenger side suspension. I raised the truck an inch or two and used a pry bar to pry up on the wheel. I can see movement in the upper ball joint. Should there be any movement when they are checked in this manner? The lowers don't seem to have any play in them , just the uppers.

There should be absolutely no movement in any of the ball joints.

Yeah I didn't think so. Some older chevy ball joints could have movement in them that was normal, but most designs don't have any play allowances. Time for a kit from quad4x4.com.
