love long beds. once u put a toolbox in u still got a good sized bed. and the plywood, 4wheeler, anything jus fits better in it! parking can b a pain sometimes but it just makes u better at backing up, which is how i always park. i can whip mine in about any spot now!!

 

Parking can be a little harder.... especially with 6" extra from after market bumpers.
I just back into short spaces so the truck does not stick out. You will get use to it in short order. You don't list your location... but in a BIG city with heavy traffic, the short bed might have a few advantages. I still think once you've had a long bed...will never go back! JMO

I have a SB w/tool box and aux fuel tank. Yea, I lost a ton of bed space w/all the additives. I drive mostly in town and tow about 5k and really haven't had much of an issue w/the limited room, easy to park. I had a F350 4dr, 4x4 and yea, I had to back into every parking space in town b/c it would take you forever to just pull straight in. On long trips w/lots of junk I have one of those hitch racks to pile up to 500lbs more junk on. It's your preference.

 

I do like my short bed for parking in tight areas, and I do like the looks of it, but I think I would rather have a long bed. Sometimes I really miss that extra length when loading the bed full of whatever.

If I was to buy another it would be a long bed.

i like the long bed. pulls better, rides a little better. and i can put a foiur wheeler in the bed with my tool box and close the tail gate and still have room

 

For a truck, especially full-size, might as well get the long bed. It's not that much longer but the added space is nice. Looks good too. The only issues with a long bed are parking, as stated. Not sure how much easier it would be with 2 feet less, but every time I go to LA I have to be concerned about parking. Sometimes even if the spot is big enough, I'm still over the designated lines on the street next to the curb. I always smile at that.

 

Really like my long bed, just wish they made a mega in the long bed from the factory. I have never had issues parking my QC/LB anywhere.

 

Have a short box...wish I had the long box.

 

Given the choice, I would take a long box over a short box. I was in a similar situation when I went to buy mine. The only NV5600 trucks left were both short boxes. There are going to be +s & -s to each. Just make sure whatever you do makes you happy because that is what matters IMO. If I would have gotten a longbox, I would have had to put larger tires on it nearly immediately to make the ratio look right.

 

Guess I'm the odd man out here. I REALLY like the short bed, almost all my company work is in town and in back alleys, constructions sites, etc and the long box, for me would not work. That and it would not fit in the garage.

Sometimes I could use the extra room though.

I bought the short box quad cab so it would fit in my garage. For those times I need an 8 foot bed I drop the tailgate and swing down a Bed X-tender, made by AMP Research. With this folded inside the bed, it is perfect to keep smaller things from rolling around also.
I don’t use a gooseneck for towing. If I did I would not get a short box.

 

NEVER have I regretted the long... By the time my toolbox is in, there would not be much room left in a short bed..

I can still park in all parking garages (tighest parking situation I can think of around here) height permitting...

 

I have always owned trucks for more than 30 years. Up until 1987 they had all been long box. I thought I was wrong to own the long box when a shorty would do. (You know that saying? "I thought I was wrong once.... but I was wrong.) Well the short box lasted less than 2 years. Ever tried to carry a 16 foot anything in a short box? Its been long box ever since.

 

Eventhough my truck is a regular cab, its still a long bed. All the trucks I've owned have been long beds too. I just like having that space if I need it. Now I've used my bothers trucks before and he's always had short beds, I don't like them just because the lack of bed space.
