99 2500 with low miles....Gonzales Tx

I saw one there on craiglist, pretty much what we all are lookign for, 99 model, standard, leather interior, 85,000 miles, nice body, clean interior.

I looked at it, First thing I asked the salesman was, what is the story on this truck...
"Trade in up at College Station, old mans truck, one owner, etc"

Second question was have you looked to see if it is a "53" block?
"I don't even know what that is"

So I crawl under the front and there is a big 53 on the block.

The guy has Dodge trucks all over his lot, and he does not know what a "53" block is?

Just in case anyone here is looking beware.....I won't name a dealership but someone is going to find out the hard way on this truck.

I knew it was too good to be true.

If the price is right, and the truck hasn't towed heavy, it is still a desirable truck. Not all 53 blocks crack.

They are asking 15K for the truck, someone will come along and pay it. I am not taking a chance on it!

Most car sales guys don't know a thing about what they are selling and can get pretty creative with the personalities of who trades what in.

We have a local dealer that still refers to "Cummings" engines in the dodges he has on his lot.

A 53 with 85000 may not be a bad buy, as said, they don't all crack.

I'd keep looking.

I bailed on a 99 with a 53 block also, then found mine for less money and nicer shape, without a 53 on it!

Have you found a truck yet? If not I know where you can pick up a 98 12v, 2500, clubcab, long bed, with 85,000 miles for that same price. Will be available in a couple of weeks. let me know if you are interested.
