95-96-97 ?'s

Was there any major differences in these? I am looking for a 2nd gen single cab auto or 5 speed, single wheel, 2 wheel drive, i want to lower it on airbags, bomb it out and use as my daily driver.

Anything major that changed that would make me want one year over another. Thanks., jiMMy

Over the long run, youll be able to get more power of a 96-97 manual because of the injection pump being of the highest HP @215. No major changes between those years. You can get a 98 w/a 12v but they are hard to find. The only thing you would benifit from is a newer style interior and an easier shifting 5spd. They also have the quadcab, and short box w/ ext cab. No short std cabs.

94/95 auto=160hp, 96/98 auto=180hp,94/95 5spd.=175hp, 96/98 5 spd.=215.

That doesn't tell the total story, but the later years are better. Better brakes, engine improvements, transmissions, and the 98 12v's have the new style dash layout (but can also have a 53 block).

On the other hand if a screaming deal on a nice low mileage 94/95 came along in a good color, I'd have to look at it since you can overcome any horsepower issues fairly easly.

Good luck, RJR
