2nd gen lug nuts and cap question

Hi fella's,
This may come off like a dumb question but I figure some of you may know. I purchased a 1996 Dodge B3500 RoadTrek camper van this week. It has one aftermarket cap on it which is not appealing to say the least. So at first I thought I would throw a set of 1st gen (2wd) center caps/beauty rings on it. Then I thought it may look odd being a 96'. So I found a decent set of 2nd gen wheels/caps/lug nuts on craigslist last night. Text the seller and made a $140 offer. Drove to Strasburg VA and brought them home. When I got home I noticed that the lug nuts on my van are like a 1st gen. 1/2" dia. So the 9/16" nuts I got today wont work.

Now for my question. Can I simply buy 1/2" lug nuts that have the long hex head on it to hold on the factory 2nd gen hub cap? Do they have to be the 2nd gen hex size to hold on the hub cap on? If so what is the hex size on a 2nd gen? I know a 1st gen is 13/16. I told y'all it was a dumb question, LOL.

Thanks in advance for any and all help

I fear the OD of the smaller lugnut will not hold the center cap on.

Not sure of the socket size needed to remove them.

Good luck.

Ronco that stinks. I could have swore I have seen B2500 and B3500 vans with these caps/wheels on them. 1996 and up that is. I wonder if vans in those years came with the larger 9/16 lug. My van is a 1996 B3500 and it has the smaller 1/2" that my 1st gen shares.
