Re:00 Alloys on a 98

jlyle2317,

I did the swap to the 2001 alloys on my 1997. I pulled my rear drums and took them and an alloy wheel to a machine shop where I had some material removed from the edge of the drum. The material removed is not structural and the cooling fins were not touched. The machinist used his brake lathe to remove about a tenth of an inch. Total cost was 1 hour labor. Some folks have mentioned clearance problems with the front suspension. You might check that too. I had no problems on the front. I would do it again as the oem alloys were the only 8 inch rims I could find with enough backspacing to keep them up under the truck.

You can pm me if you would like some more info.

T-Bone
Have you bought the rims yet? I have an extra set I got from a local dealer for a $100 less lugs & caps. If your dealer charges more you can have these + shipping of coarse.

db
