While installing guages on my new/old truck I noticed a wire running from the computer, outside the loom, to the VP-44. Is there a "most likely" reason for this? I have a guess.

Also, anyone know how to tell if your used truck has an aftermarket perfomance download? Can a mechanic with a diagnostic tool tell?

This is my third Cummins Dodge ('01, '05, now '99), and just happens to be the oldest. I haven't had the time to research all I need to know yet, so help me out a little here while I get up to speed.
