What should max boost be?

Curious what boost should be on a stock 2002 HO. According to the gauge I just put in it is 24#. (3rd gear - no load getting on the freeway)

I have a 01.5 and it was about 22 # before the wastegate opened. Now, 30 to 33 #'s

Stock the best I could do was 20psi. With the va and elbow I now can get

With a boost fooler, j-hook and superchips on level 2 I hit 25psi empty and the gauge rattles pretty bad when I get on it. I ordered a snubber to hopefully fix it.

According to the Engine Diagnostic Manual that Dodge uses for these trucks (up to 2000 at least) the waste gate is supposed to open at 20.7 PSI. Dont know what the tollerances are but I get an over boost code sometimes and I only see at most 21 PSI.

On my 02, when stock, I remember reading just over the 20 psi hash mark.

Andy505 - Got a shiver just looking at that pic! Have lived in N. England and Canada.... but been in the south for 10+ yrs. Forgot there even were road conditions like that

We've been 55* low and 65-75* High for about a week now. Sorry, could not resist sharing that!

what do you think the boost should be on a 02 5 speed not an HO, with an edge EZ with a 90 boost elbow? (guages not hooked up yet)

A stock HO can see up to 26#. The wastegate is set to open a 21psi on a stock truck, but the computer won't defuel until 26psi.

If you have a boost elbow, 24 psi sounds right to me. If not, your WG is stuck.

I suppose I should take it to the dealer

From most of what I have read here I shouldn't get 24# from a stock truck with no mods. Truck only has 75k on it.

LOL I was going to say you hit 24lbs of boost on road surfaces like that and kept it straight?
