Okay, I finally got around to installing some gaugeson my '98 2500 (24 valve), now I can't find an authoritative source for what they should read. In particular, what should I be expecting from boost when hauling a 7% hill with a 10,000 pound fifth wheel? How high do I let the transmission temp get before I back off? <br><br>And what is the threshold for the tran temp warning light? When I called Dodge on this, the guy on the phone was obviously only capable of handling questions on color and interiors. <br><br>Thanks for any help. <br><br>

 

MAC, the boost will depend on what your running, any fueling boxes or injectors, boost elbow etc.<br> If stock, you should see about 19 to 20 psi only.<br> Trany temp, I see about 150 to 160 on flats, mts might hit 170, stop and go or backing into space will go up to 175 or 180.<br> I believe the light goes on above 250 deg, and at that point some damage is occuring.<br> Welcome to the site.

 

Hmmmm . . .<br>Well, pulling up a 7% grade in Wyoming (about 8,000 feet) I quickly got the trany temp close to 250 (did not turn on the warning light). Gearing down, slowing down, did not reduce the temp until I got over the top. Am I doing something wrong? <br><br>Thanks, <br><br>Mac

 

Where are you taking the temp readings, pan or lines?
