Are warranties transferrable?

I am looking at a 2002 24v, 4x4, HO 6spd, with 105k. The owner had the VP and Lift Pump replaced 10k ago, because they went out. It was done at the dealership, so it has a warranty. Does it transfer? Does anyone know?

Also, he's asking 17900 for it. Which seems high to me, all he's done is a K&N, 4" exhaust and 33"'s. I haven't gone to go see it, doing that saturday, but from his discription and pictures online, the interior and exterior are really clean.

Doesn't the warranty expire after 100k miles?

FWIW, I wish trucks were that cheap here. That same truck would would fetch around $30k+.

Cummins has nothing to do with the warranty.

Dodge bought the engines from Cummins. Dodge offered the 100k warranty on trucks equipped with said engines. The warranty is all Dodge.

The warranty probably expired when it hit 100k reguardless. They usually don't extend out the warranty past 100k, Chrysler is too stingey for that.

The other thing is, lately dealerships have been putting lift pumps in the tank, which are a junk set up. So who cares if the lift pump even has a warranty left. Put a real lift pump system in it when it goes again.

Read your warranty book. The Cummins Diesel engine warranty is for a period of 5 years or 100K and it goes into effect AFTER the Dodge basic 3/36.
I got my VP reimbursed from chrysler.

The model year 2002 Warranty Information booklet states on the inside of the back cover that the various warranties apply to all owners. There is no mention of transfer fees in any Warranty Information booklet for the 24-valve trucks. Federal law requires that warranties show The identity of the party or parties to whom the written warranty is extended, if the enforceability of the written warranty is limited to the original consumer purchaser or is otherwise limited to persons other than every consumer owner during the term of the warranty.

The first post in this thread (on that other site) should help you determine your engine warranty status.

Yep, seen 98 12valves with 250km on them for $29k. That one never sold at that price, but these things are being sold for the price of gold. And now Canadians aren't allowed to buy vehicles in the US. Some free trade agreement . . .

The first mention of a transfer fee involves third-generation Rams. A thorough read of the Warranty Information booklets at http://www.dodge.com/crossbrand/warranty/?brand=D&modelyear=2006&nameplate=ram_hd, along with the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 16, § 701.3a(1) "(1) The identity of the party or parties to whom the written warranty is extended, if the enforceability of the written warranty is limited to the original consumer purchaser or is otherwise limited to persons other than every consumer owner during the term of the warranty;", should show you that there was no transfer fee model year 2002.

You can educate yourself with all the federal warranty rules at Code of Federal Regulations, Title 16, Part 701.
