Thanks! That is great info. Do you know where to get the gear puller that is mentioned in the writeup?

I used a steering wheel puller available from any auto parts store or Sears.

It worked just fine.

Take your time.
It's NOT a timed event.
Double check all bolts are out before resorting to the pry bar or Ford Tool.
There's a sneaky support bracket on the bottom rear of the pump.
Double check ALL connections/bolts BEFORE you hook the batteries back up and turn the key.

It's not that bad of a job.
I did mine last January on the curb in front of the house.

How do you get the gear off the front of the pump?
I have the breather off and I can see the nut...does the gear stay in the same spot when I use the puller or do I have to remove the cover off the front off the motor?

The gear stays put.
You'll press the shaft/pump back through the gear.
MAKE SURE THE KEYWAY IS FACING STRAIGHT UP
OR YOU MIGHT BE DISASSEMBLING THE FRONT TIMING COVER TO RETREIVE THE WOODRUFF KEY!

Rotate the engine via the alternator nut if possible.

Use the woodruff key that came with the NEW pump.
They're a matched set.
