Cracked, where exactly? Where the allen socket is? That could have happened from a previous valve adjustment.

I guess anything is possible.

Cracked down the side of the adjuster screw. I've had the truck since 28k and the valves have not been touched, I even have a Vin printout with the warranty work that's been done, and nothing.

Now thats special, probably had a flaw in it to start with, there really isn't a reason for that to crack anyway.

That's kinda the general consincous as of now. I'm glad I decided to get the valves adjusted early instead of waiting until the 150k reccommended service interval. Just goes to show, there is nothing wrong with over maintaining your truck.

Good thing you found it now than out on the road. The engine tends to make funny and exciting noises when something like that lets go (i speak from experience).

Tell me about it. I'm heard on a 900+ mile round trip to Vegas this weekend.

I've done business with this shop for awhile. I trust them. And IF they did, I really don't think they would lie to me over a couple dollar bolt. I'm really to sure how they could have cracked this adjuster (right down the center), I went over @ lunch and checked it out.
