V.P is dead who's replacement are you running?

Well after replacing lift pump with a Air Dog 100 2 tanks ago my V.P is dieing. Codes p0216/p1693. Thought it was a air in line issue but codes do not lie. Truck will pop start and run and if I clear codes and crank on it for awhile it will start, but its time to replace v.p looking at blue chip but can't bring myself to spend $$$$ any other suggestions? Guess I'll be gass'n it for awhile....Thanks,Nate

All BOSCH reman pumps are pretty much equal. The advertising expense and profit goals of vendors are most of the price difference. Each must pass a quality test to secure additional parts for repairs. Bosch is the only supplier of quality OE replacement parts. There are some exceptions. Namely a black one with CZ stamped on housing. It appears to be from a former Communist country that made the fine quality YOGO car several years ago. I have had good luck with a ebay vendor for near $1,000.00. Like I said, the difference is very hard to actually qualify, since words and statements cannot always be factual in advertising.

dozer, thanks for info. I hate to spend the money right now as I'm laid off but need the truck to get things done/ cash. So I will be going with bosch/ blue chip unit.... I've heard too many stories of v.p's going south shortly after install in the $1000 range. Blue chip has a 2% failure rate I'd rather buy/spend alittle more on 1 then buy 2 at $1000 a pop. Nate

From: outside of H-town, Tx, thankfully
I was torn between Blue Chip and the cheaper ones,,,,,, I ended up with a Pensacola Diesel pump,,, mainly because of the deal they were offering at the time,, pump plus Air Dog 100 was $1395.00,,,, so far so good, had it right at a year now.

We'll see how it does.

Just a feeling I have, but I tend to believe the Blue Chip is probably the better pump, but I have no proof of this at all, just a guess.

I went with Pensacola for the same reason. time will tell.

I like what I have read about Blue Chip. I would like to have gotten there higher mileage pump, but since I use biodiesel I could justify the price.

My pump from Midwest Fuel Injection has been flawless so far. Over a year and a half and 45000+ miles.

if the only way you'll get rid of your rig is to run your rig into the ground like i plan on doing then $300 is worth it IMO, if its short term then go for a cheap replacement VP

yeah but I'm kind of **** about half azz fixing stuff. Like to REsale a good product. If their "stock " replacement is good enough I'd go that route but the x option has me ????? My truck has been down on power so the stock 1's going feel like truck is chipped to me. mpg is was not bad before this happened but 2-3 more wouldn't hurt either if its true....???? Nate

I got a pump from a pump shop in il. that has a shop in iowa. I can't remember the name off the top of my head. I had one of there pumps blow the front seal and I had the wire tap. They made it good even tapped, said the tap had nothing to do with the blown seal. I'm running two of there pumps and having no problems.

Well I ordered a x pump from blue chip figured the claimed 2-3 mpg increase would pay for added cost of x pump over there stocker in 'bout 20 tanks of fuel. +22 xtra horse can't hurt either along with lower egt's since I won't be putting 4" exhaust on for awhile now $$$$$. Nate
