trouble shooting help

trying to do some trouble shooting. since I did the rebuild and new cam. the truck has a issue of roughness. if I idle and slowly raise Rpm's to 3500 the needle and the truck will have some sticky spots 2000 and 2500 seems to stick there bounce on the needle some and even sound rough. and it takes even more push on the go peddle to get past those spots. on new rebuild truck has almost 9k miles on it.

my APPS original...176k
vp-44 last one 75k miles ago

what sensors could this be.

Cam position sensor governs rpm, correct?

Did you break in the cam correctly?

yes this was broke in from Rip at sourceautomotive when they did rebuild. I tried this again this afternoon the tach doesn't hesitate when I run the rpm's up faster or harder, just seems to do the hesitation on the needle when pushed slow. maybe a sign the apps isn't 100% but no codes have ever been shown. wondering on the sensor if it could be failing without showing code

but Timbo apps I will go with in due time. I will double check any fuel leaks. double check air, filters fuel, etc. but I dont think its those.

Try running it up with a push stick on the accelerator. I cut one to length with the seat all the way back. With power seats you can inch the seat forward to adjust rpm, kind of like a throttle cable lock.

With my foot I am not steady enough to hold it in one range. If it still muddles around I'd be thinking APPS.

same here I cant well with the big foot. not power seats so I will try that. I have recalibrated the apps 2 times in the last 2 years. but i think I will read up on the timbo threads.

yes I still will do the timbo/apps. I would think that with the miles I have and past issues. it wouldn't be a bad thing to change the sensor
