transmission shifting

So I get back from pulling my 5er and notice that my tranny is not shifting right. When it goes from 2nd to 3rd it will rev up to 3000 rpm's. Could it be my bands or is something broken.

Ive never heard the term 5er, must be a utah thing. I googled 5er and its a bmw.

Anyway, search the forums/internet.

Local trans shop here will check your rig out for free.

i'm not a transmission expert....i know the front band is pretty easy to check if you're not sure.....bolt is on the drivers side of the transmission.....pretty sure you have to drop the pan to check the rear band....don't guess it could be caused by some of the weird noise interference problems that causes shifting issues on these trucks could it?

Yea, I learned 5er on this site but that is besides the point. I have adjusted the front band. It still does it. I have been talking with goerends and the guy says go down 17/8 turns from 2 1/2.

holy smokes wyattearp - i think the attitude expressed in your above posts may have cost you some replies & advice!

unfortunately i have no further advice to offer except to be patient for some responses. not everyone is on your schedule, so give it a 'bump' instead of saying . . . . 'thanks for everyones help'

if you have been talking with goerend already - then you'll be getting the best advice straight form the horses mouth!

Yea maybe that wasn't the best way of dealing with it but I have had some threads never get answered. Then having someone going off about my 5er term. It just seems sometimes on this forum and others that it can get kind of clicky. There is still a lot of good info on here though. So I will apologize for my comments. I second what you said about goerends, they are the best customer service I have ever had anywhere. I was just hoping for some one with the same problem might jump in.

they suggested backing off the adjustment screw 2 1/2 turns instead of the factory 1 7/8 ?......i was just wondering.....on the specs i used last time it was 2 turns.....wonder how much of a difference it makes?......

It didn't seem to make that much of a difference. I need to go back and adjust my tv cable now. Before I adjusted the band, I had adjusted the tv cable .So maybe I will adjust it back. Thanks for the help.

That is the kick down cable that runs to your throttle linkage

Talking to Goerends ,they think I lost the 3rd gear clutches. So now I have to decide wether to rebuild myself or have them do it.
