Trans Filter issue

I ordered a filter kit for my tranmission from Geno's. The oart # on there web site for the 2001 says fits '98 to '07. Got every thing drained and pulled the filter but the filter on mine is like the '94 to '97 one. Any ideas? I am fixing to head to the parts store to get the correct one but why is mine different?

I think there are two types of filters out there. I usually go with the metal/plastic filter and gasket setup found at AutoZone, etc. The other one I'm not sure about, but is the preferred one nowadays....

Thats the one I got but it only had 2 holes for the screws and the one I pulled off had 3. Picked up a Wix at O'Reilly's Auto Parts. Thought about it after I got it back together and think I will be calling the shop that rebuilt it on Tuesday. Another wierd thing is the waste fluid was 6 quarts and it only needed 4 to be to the middle of the safe mark on the dipstick at full operating temp.
