tranny take out...
tranny take out...
I`m going to start on my clutch job tonight and was wondering if there is any tips I might need before I start. This is the first time I will be taking a tranny out of a 4x4, I`ve done it on 2wd`s a ton of times. Any hard to reach bolts on these dodges? any special tools needed? thanks for any info!!!
A hydraulic spreader for the crossmember comes in handy, or some people use a jack and a 4x4. A tranny jack also makes things alot easier instead of trying to balance it on a floor jack. Other than that, just as easy as a 2wd. BTW, some folk think its easier to take off the t-case to make it lighter in weight. I didn't when I did my swap, but the next time, I might.
why would I need a hydraulic spreader for the crossmember? Doesnt it just come out like other crossmembers? And if I took the transfer case off the tranny, would I lose fluid all over or is the fluid sealed in the t-case?

Its pressfit. You shouldnt loose fluid for the t-case separation. If you do, something wrong!
