Tps/apps
Tps/apps
I need some information: TPS vs. APPS
98-99 24 valve engines
Are they the same? My understanding is that the tps is on an auto and the apps is on the manual and they are not interchangable.
Is that right?
Thanks.

TPS = Throttle Position Sensor found on 12 valve engines.
APPS = Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor found on 24 valve engines.
Not interchangable.
Pretty sure they are the same thing whether standard or auto tranny.
On an auto, perhaps they just do more?

After looking closely at Alldata here at work the apps are the same for auto and manual. Only difference is the auto has an extra lever (kick down lever ?) and probably some difference within the electrical (extra wires for auto- guessing didn't look) but the connector is the same for both.
So I should be ok getting an apps from a '99 auto and putting it on my truck.
Bought it really cheap anyway.
What to do you experts think?
ps.
I'm hanging out in shipping and recieving waiting for ups to bring my ez
