Too many codes. Help!!
Too many codes. Help!!
On my way home today while accelerating around a truck My truck just quit running. I coasted the side of the road and then tried to restart the truck. Nothing,it just turned over. Bumped the engine to check fuel presure and got 13 psi which was about normal for my truck at idle....10 at WOT. Got out my smarty to check codes and also did the key trick for codes and got the following.
P0500-No vehicle speed sensor signal
P0460-Fuel level sending unit
P1694-No bus messages received from ECM
P0232-Fuel shutoff signal voltage too high
P1688-Internal injection pump controller failure
P1689-No communication between ECM and injection pump module
P0237-Map sensor voltage too low
Truck has 114,000 miles to date and has never thrown any codes except about 8 months ago when I got the p0216 code and put on a new IP from II.
I did finally get the truck started for a few minutes, but it missed and ran so rough it would not move.
Any ideas where to start? APPS,Map,ECM,Maybe IP...but no usual dead
peddle...?

it sounds to me like you have a pesky ground problem. check all your grounds very carefully, especially the engine / ecm / frame / battery connections.
The other side, is you could have a wire that has chafed through the outer casing, and it causing an intermittent problem.
Good luck with it

Clear your codes. Restart the truck and see what comes up. Will probably be a single code. When I lost the crank sensor last month and the truck died, I had a half a dozen codes. When I cleared and restarted truck, got one code, Crank Sensor. It seams that if truck quits computer looses all communication.
Good luck

slowflyer, did you have a 1688 in the "half a dozen" codes the first go around?? im doubting you did since you restarted it and it ran properly.
Desert, the 1688 is the REAL death code for your vp. Call II and see what they will do about it. I sure hope you didnt tap your pump wire.... Tell them your list of codes and they should fix it under warranty.

Looking at your sig, when i had my truck set up about like yours but with bigger injectors, i had a new pump last only 10k miles. and i also had a truck that i replaced a pump in with a pump from II that was set up about like yours only last 12 months.
This is one reason my truck is back to stock..... along with the 2800 dollar transmissions and the 1500 dollar rear ends and the 2000 dollar clutch. i need my truck to work with, ill put 500 hp in my car and go twice as fast
(well, almost)
