Toe adjust specs
OK the local tire shop that works on my rig alignment wise had my toe set at +.08 for each side for a total of +.16 total toe in. I have upgraded everything except the steering shaft and was still having trouble with wander.
Anyway, I got under the truck and pulled the toe in another 1/8 turn on the tie rod and amazingly my truck now has a lot less drift/wander. It steers %100 better than at the factory setting! The tire shop insisted it was dead on and wouldn't adjust it for me so I did it myself.
I'll be keeping an eye on tire wear but at this time it steers so much better I'll probably just rotate more often if I detect outer wear.
Any alignment guys know the perfect setting for toe in or should I get the alignment checked and get the true reading it is now set at?
Thanks, Kurt

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
The reason it ain't wandering is tire fight. And I suspect wider tires. The wider tires cause wander as the wide tire has more opportunity to follow road varaiations. Many drivers have better success with toe set very near zero, especially highway drivers. Off road wants more toe. 4WD needs plenty caster to reduce death wobble. Helps keep straight also.
Sounds like have steering gear with loose adjustments. Is the Steering shaft and column loose???????
