Time for an Overhaul?
My friend just bought an 01 Auto about 6 months ago, and it shifted like crap when he got it. We installed a performance valve body in it, made sure all the bands are adjusted correctly, and the line pressure is where it should be for a performance valve body, it shifts a little bit better, but not the best. The rear band doesnt seem to want to "spring back" after you pull the servo arm down, which indicates something is wrong already, and there was a bit of friction material on the bottom of the pan. it has 70K on it. Time for a rebuild?
my brother has the same valve body and his shifts nice and firm.

If I install a plug in the accumulator port in the trans case, ( I thinks it is about a 1/4" bore) Will it shift any harder for the time being to make the trans last as long as possible? I know the Transgo TFOD kit has you install one, my brothers has the plug installed but my friends does not. That got something to do with it?

if there is friction material in the bottom of the pan try replacing the filter if you didnt replace it already. The filter when it has crap in it causes the valve body to fail kinda and everything just doesnt work right.
