Throwing all sorts of codes???

Not really all sorts... More like 2 of them. I threw a 216 this past weekend. I live in Redwood City (not very hot temp wise). Driving through Sac, the temps hit 94 this weekend. All of a sudden, I tripped the 216 code. I reset the check engine light, and kept going. low and behold, it set the code off again. I said to hell with it, and made the drive to tAhoe anyway. When I tripped the cod,e I got the dead pedal. So I got back on the freeway, and got up to speed, and drove at 65 mph for a while. So I decided to get the speed up a bit. Got her up to 95 going UP the summit (with no dead pedal). ****, I love that truck!!!! As I am driving, I check out the FP gauge, and I have it bouncing around from 10-12 psi... No big deal, the same thing happened last time when I climbed that Alt...

So I get to my place in Truckee, and I decided to reset the APPS again. I let the batteries unplugged for about 3-4 hours, and then replugged them. The 216 code did not come back up, but instead I got the P0609 code... Now instead of having a dead pedal, I get a SERIOUS puff of black smoke when I go from a stop. I reset the code, and it trips again, RIGHT AWAY!!!! I drove it like this for about 15 minutes, and then reset the code. Now I have no codes. Why am I getting these codes, and why can they just go off like that.

0216 = Injection Pump timing failure.
Don't know the other one,
but you should be seeing P0181 (Injection Pump Failure) soon.

I have been getting the 216 code for about 2 months now. I just reset the APPS when it ahppens, and the problem with the dead pedal and all go away for a while... If i get that other code, then I send the pump out for a rebuild.,
