those who had a dealer replace vp-44

my truck went in today to be checked out and hopefully they will easily figure out it needs a new vp-44...they said they are gonna cover it under warranty.

anyway those who have had one done...how long does it take...is it one of those week long repairs...or is it a part they can get in 1-2 days and have it installed. just wondering how long i wont have my truck

It's usually a 1-2 day repair because the Vp-44 are "Restricted." Meaning, there order by Vin # only. It took 3 days on mine because they had to replace the lift pump 1st, drive it, and then re-check it the next day, then they condemmed the Vp and overnighted the pump.

P.S. It's good to see that you have a cool dealer to work with just like mine. Especially with your BOMB list.

the truck only has

banks wastegate, exhaust, and ottomind tuner installed...just like i bought it from them. even left the ottomind tapped into the pump. cant wait to see what kinda phone call i get once they check out all the things they are gonna check before admitting i am right and that the VP is bad...should be funny when they ask me what the wires are for?

I hope Chrysler(Star) lets them keep their word. I think they're going to have a hard time convincing Chrysler(Star) to warranty a wire-tapped VP-44 even though they sold the truck in that condition.

don't worry about that, Chrsyler(Star) knows what to look for and exactly what they're looking at when they see it.

I took mine in monday, code 0216 and dead pedal, they condemned the injection pump and the lift pump, but warrantied it even though I have an edge EZ and a set of mach 1.5 injectors. Only thing is they wanted to drive it for a hundred mile without the box to get the numbers back to normal before they sent it in. Has anyone ever heard of this, and will it help?

I called into my dealer and told them I was seeing a P0216 code. The service manage ordered the VP44 and I went in on a monday and had the VP44 completely changed out in 4 hours.

Period!

I just called in advance to get the parts ordered...

i tried that...the guy kept telling me to check water separators and fuel filters

i am waiting for the phone call now, i wish i had a dealer like that around here that could get turn around times in less than a day and actually listen to the customers when they tell them whats wrong

That one reason why I go back to the dealer I bought the truck from and that why I still travel the extra 80 miles to go there.

Or is it because...

I took the service manager out for breakfast once.... Hmmm.... Honey sure does attract attention to your problems...

Warranty on the engine is 100,000 miles.

Some were 5 year/100K, late 2002 7 year/100K.

Everyone got the bumper-to-bumper 3/36, which most likely went very quickly,
judging by how many miles most of us have already.
