TC shudder. replacement or fix

My torque converter shudders sometimes when it locks-up or if i go to accelerate. not all the time does it do it, but most of the time. Otherwise the trans shifts excellent, quick firm shifts no slippage.

So should i just replace the TC or is there something else that would be cuasing it? Thanks

Shudder is slipping, period. Need a new TC and probably a shift kit or valve body to hold it tighter. Give Goerend Bros a call.

it will need to be dealt with sooner or later. BUT mine has been shuddering for two years and last month someone told me about instant shudder fixx by DR Tranny, it worked really well almost instantly. for $8 its worth it for making it last a bit longer.

How about changing fluid to fresh ATF+4. The addition of High pressure VB may extend life and help tranny also. Not familiar with Dr. tranny but could be worth trying by all means.

I'd advise staying away from local shops unfamiliar with after market rebuilds.
Too many have told members "I can do that" and the owners have not been happy.

If I lived where you do, I'd talk to Tim, in Virginia Beach!
He is as good as they come on the east coast, and not all that far from you... for the right answers!
I know members that have traveled from 3 or four states away for his expertise.

Thanks for the info. The shop we use for automatics specialize in drag racing transmissions. But i just wanted to know if the stock VB be be used to make a High Pressure VB or is it not even worth talking to the shop?

All custom VB's started life as a stock unit.
Transgo shift kits are popular http://www.transgo.com/
