TC problem in 3rd?

Went looking at 05's today and had the local dealer appraise my truck. Well the salesman tells me that the appraisal manager and service manager say there is a problem with my torque converter. They say after the truck shifts into 3rd gear the rpms climb 200-300 before it settles. According to them the TC is ready to break at anytime because of this.

Hmm, I say. Never ever had a problem or issue with the truck I say. So the salesman says to take him for a ride. Off we go. Truck shifts fine, locks into 4th and we start cruising up the highway. He says "doesn't seem like anything is wrong to me".

So we're back at the dealer and he gets the appraiser to come out to "explain" what the problem is. Well the appraiser jumps in and takes me for a ride up the road and says "see, in 3rd the rpm climbs 200 before it settles and shifts into 4th." Then we hit 4th the TC locks and we're rolling.

Honestly I have no idea what he is talking about. The truck shifts fine, I've never ever had a problem with it. Never even noticed what he is talking about before.
Gosh how I hate new truck shopping. It is always a freaking ordeal.

You guys have any insight on this "TC Problem"?

Sounds like the sales mangler is settin you up for a low-ball bid on your trade to me. I will best advise you to sell your truck outright. Then go in on a new truck deal fresh. Ask for the fleet manager and not some sales, let me ask my manager, floor monkey. No trade to haggle over, get the price within cost less rebate and buy a truck! I never trade a vehicle in... ever.

Go to another dealer and ask them.
Tell the current dealer you are not here to play. Just want to buy from an honest group.

When I ordered my 02, I told the dealer/ salesman, that my time was important. I don't have time to make extra trips and won't.
Also, what you say will be checked and chalenged.
Say it once and be accurate.
Everything went great. A very good group to deal with.
