Question T/C slips some before locking

On my 1998.5 the TC locks up ok (Mild Shudder sometimes) if I am barely accelerating at 45 MPH or if I roll off throttlle, it locks fine. But If I am on it to where the TC lock up clutch had to do a little work, it slips and I roll off the throttle to make it lock. Once it is locked I can get on it hard and it won't slip anymore. I don't really have money for a converter so I was planning on fixing the problem with a valve body or pressure lock. I was wondering if anyone has a BD pressure lock and how they like it. Also ease of installation. I also thought about a SMR shift kit. I just don't know which one is best. I am planning on a new converter and a DTT KIT when I am out of college. Just wondering what money is best spent. Thank YOU.

Find and raise the pressure in the trans. Then refresh the fluid.
This will get you by for a time till you can do the complete trans.
You may think it is the converter slipping but you don't know till it is opened up. It could be one of the clutch packs.
pressure is the answer.

Thanks fox, what is the best mod for increasing line pressure. BD pressure lock or I have seen a few different valve bodies and the SMR shift kit. Anyone with personal experience with these??

Get a pressure gauge and measure teh line pressure before turning the first bolt.
There's an adjusting screw on the VB

But you need to measure the real pressure before turning it up a bit. For further questions I suggest to call Bill Kondolay.

I have expeirience with the bd valve body and pressureloc pretty simple installs and when you do these improvements use synthetics in transmission like a amsoil or something similar. you might consider installing trans temp gauge hot fluid is what kills auto transmission

I would reprogram your computer. I don't think you need a TC because I had the same thing happen to me on my truck. I did the battery trick and it fixed it.

I was told it might come back and all you need to do is put a noise filter on.

If you do a shift kit, look at the SMR I love mine. I have done some other kits for people and I think the SMR is superior. But JMO.
