Steering Questions

On my 98 my steering seems loose, not responsive, sloppy. What I mean is I can move the steering wheel back and forth and the truck keeps straight. I was wondering is that the track bar, tie rods, or something else?

Its probably a combination of all of those things, The trackbar is usually the fist thing to go so start there, have a buddy get inside the truck while it is off and turn the wheel to the left and right, then look at you trackbar while the wheel is turning. You will see the truck body move and the trackbar will look loose. How many miles do you have? I have about 88500 on my 02 and I had to replace the trackbar about a year ago, I think my tie-rod ends are getting fairly worn too cause my steering is getting quite a bit of slop in it as well. As far as trackbar replacment I went with a Don Thuren unit, do a search, he has a website, hes a real nice guy and he will answer all of your questions. When you see his bar youll think it was built to go on an A1 tank!

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Get your hands dirty feeling for loosness as someone turns wheel. Or get a professional to inspect who knows what to look for.
