starter

I have an 01 and a 00 dodge ram diesel i was told when i bought the 2000 that it was an HO but i never bothered to check it out can anyone tell me the easiest way to . i need a starter for the 01 3500 and i want to take the one out of the 2000 2500 for now money is tight . even if it is an HO are the starters different?

I dont believe the HO's came out until 2001. Is it a 6 speed manual? I dont believe there were any HOs with the auto transmission in that year.

You could have a dealer run your Vin and give you a build sheet for it.

The starters should be exactly the same.

well its an automatic but i have read where the HO came out mid yr 2000 thats why and when i look up starters it asks HO or SO thats why i am asking i feel they shouldnt be different either but better safe than sorry
