Shutter/Vibration on '01 CTD
Shutter/Vibration on '01 CTD
Recently I have noticed a shutter in my truck from 40-45MPH, just before shifting into OD when I am just easing on the go pedal. When I step on it hard the truck runs through the gears and doesnt shutter. (just holds the gears longer like a stock tranny does.) Truck just turned 80k miles and has never been off road or used to haul a heavy load. I have a completely stock tranny and I think the mods in my Signature may be taking thier toll on it!
I have checked all the U-Joints and carrier brg. for slop/play and all seem to be tight. The only other thing I can think of would be TQ Convertor. Any Ideas???
Thanks,
Josh

Do you have any aftermarket performance items on the engine? Chipset or exhaust. If so you may have a torque converter issue if yuu have a stock converter which I experienced as well. Replaced with a Banks and.....well BAD news. At the time Banks had problems with their converters. So I got a refund from them and replaced it with a Suncoast Converter (suncoastconverters.com) and the proablem was eliminated.
Food for thought.............

My stock converter is doing the same thing. It used to only do it on the edge setting in 5th and 6th but now will shudder on number 2 if I easy into it. I don't think the stock converter will last much longer.
